Mississippi Station (No longer serving breakfast)

Why wait in the rain?
Have you stood in line waiting to get into Gravy on Mississippi? Well if so, chances are you were waiting outside, freezing and getting wet. Well next time just take a little walk down the street to Mississippi Station. Now if it's Mon-Fri it's true they don't open until 10AM but on the weekends, which is usually when the wait is, they open at 8AM and there has never been a wait when I've been there. Personally I think their food is better than Gravy. I admit, they don't serve Stumptown. They used to serve Blue Gardenia (which was very good) but they switched to Tully's. It's pretty good, I'm not a big fan of Tully's, but enough about the coffee.

I had my regular scramble with sausage which was yummy (though the eggs were a little undercooked). The berry pancakes looked wonderful. The prices are a little higher than Gravy, but when you don't have to wait
and you're not sitting on the
person next to you, it's worth it.

They have patio seating as well, which would be great on a summer morning. They also have dinner with live music on certain evenings. Snag a friend and go check it out.

Better than Gravy? My goodness, that's a recommendation. Are the portions as big?

Ok, no the portions aren't as big. But no one person should really eat that much food! Normally my husband and I share one plate at Gravy. We have to get our own at MIssissippi Station. But it's a great alternative if you don't want to wait for your breakfast. I'm just giving those poor people out in the rain another option. Especially the ones with itty bitty's, who need a little more room.

Hey, I love options! And I love eating without the wait. I also love having my breakfast leftovers for a late lunch and not even needing dinner.

On the other hand, a group of us came up with a phrase after eating at Cricket Cafe one time. We think it would be a good slogan for a restaurant: Reasonable portions and reasonable prices, because breakfast shouldn't hurt."

Do you ever visit Seattle? I'd love to know what hidden gems you've found up here. Love you blog! I camp outside of Portland in the summer, and always go into town for breakfast.

As far as Seattle goes, check out the 2006 link. 5 Spot is the only place I've been there, it's not so much hidden I guess. I'll try to make it a point to get some more of Seattle on here. That will be a good reason to get my husband to take me there for the weekend! Thanks for the comment.

They are now serving Stumptown!

Well good for them. That will probably mean there will be a line now. People flock to Stumptown coffee, me being one of them. I'll have to update my post, thanks for updating me.
