Huckleberry pancakes

This is Genies. A new find for me. It is located at the corner of 11th and SE Division. Stumptown coffee, need I say more! But let me tell you about their huckleberry pancakes, actually you need to just try them for yourself. As my adopted dad says "they're forehead slappers!" This cafe has good atmosphere and nice servers. Their food is just good. Oh and fresh apple juice too. Posted by Picasa Genies is at portland.citysearch.com

what a great idea for a blog site - we now plan to check out genies. If you haven't tried Henry's on 25th and Clinton you should!

Was in Portland this week, and searching for a great place for breakfast on Saturday. Came across your blog (Google Search for Best Breakfast in Portland, 3rd hit!). Went to Genies. WOW. Thank you so much for the blog. Never would have discovered this place without it. They had blackberry pancakes and sourdough french toast stuffed with pear-creamcheese. Talk about YUM. And excellent service. Just beware it is very busy, and very loud. Not an "intimate" conversation kind of place, but a raucous, happy, fun place. Thanks again!

I went to Genie's with Emily. I ordered the blackberry pancakes, they were yummy. They were dusted with powdered sugar, as was the pear French toast.

Also, as a tea drinker I appreciated the loose leaf tea. Not sure what type it was maybe Mighty Leaf or Tao of Tea.

Emily is right it was very, very loud. We still managed to lean over the table and have a conversation. Arrive earlier than you want to eat especially for larger parties.

Thanks for your great blog!

Glad you enjoyed it ladies! I haven't been there in quite some time, but your comments are making my mouth water. I better head over there again so I can remember what it tastes like, with a megaphone maybe...
